John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Many people look at the world and how bad it can be, then use this observation to conclude there must be no God, because if there was a God he'd never let these things happen.
If there was a God don't you think he'd also look at the world and say it's Godless too? So there may be some agreement there.
Evil does not prove that there is no God.
God talks about evil in the Bible, and who organises it.
John 8:44
New International Version (NIV)
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 10:10
New International Version (NIV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy...
So, we have murderers, liars, thieves and destroyers, does this show there is no God? Not yet, just that there is definitely Godlessness. God has given us as humans the command to do what's right as individuals and corporately too, he has also given us a conscience to do what's right. When people don't do what's right others look at the actions of others and blame God, now where's the justice in that when God told us not to do it in the first place?
Some say "there is no God because look at all those people starving to death in Africa" and yet we have the power and the directive from God to feed these starving people and when we don't and they die, we blame God. What! That's crazy, why would we blame others for not doing something that we are supposed be doing?
Let's look at how important these poor people who suffer are to God.
Matthew 25:31-46
New International Version (NIV)
The Sheep and the Goats
31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.
44 They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?
45 He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
46 Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
Okay, so if no one looks after these poor people who starve and die and then we say there is no God because he wouldn't have let them die, God isn't going to be pleased. You see, the Godlessness we see doesn't prove there is no God, it proves we are Godless!
How can we change this?
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.
21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
God wants to see God in the world, God wants to see justice, He wants to see peace, He wants to see love for one another just like you do and he wants you to do it. When people look at the world, he wants people to say there is a God, why? Because of your actions on His behalf.
Matthew 5:16
New International Version (NIV)
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
How can you do all this?
You'll need to speak to God about this (praying)
Turn from your old ways.
Believe that God's Son died for your disobedience (sins).
Ask God to live in you.
The bible says that if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (that's what you want, to be a sheep not a goat).
Find a bible, read it, get to know God through reading what he has to say to you. Pray, talk to Him, he's your friend.
The Bible says, 'Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends'.
Jesus layed down his life for us all, his friends.
Be a friend of God. Be Him to others when they are in need.
